Every calculator uses a named, verifiable formula (Mifflin-St Jeor, TDEE, Navy method, etc.). We document our sources so you can check our work.
Transparent funding
The site is funded entirely by Google AdSense. No affiliate links, no paid placements, no sponsored results. Ads are clearly labelled.
Independent & self-funded
No venture capital, no investors, no pressure to monetise your data. We answer only to users, not to advertisers or shareholders.
Actively maintained
Bugs are fixed quickly. Formulas are reviewed when standards change. The contact form is monitored and we respond to every message.
No dark patterns
No countdown pop-ups, no fake "limited offer" banners, no forced email capture, no cookie walls that block access.

The story behind MyToolkit

MyToolkit was started by a small team of independent developers and designers who were tired of the state of free online tools. Most tool sites had become bloated with pop-ups, aggressive upsells, and dark patterns engineered to harvest emails rather than help users. Results on search engines were increasingly dominated by sites that looked helpful but buried the actual tool three scroll-lengths below an ad wall.

We set out to build the site we actually wanted to use: fast, clean, private, and genuinely free. No account required. No upload required. No nag screens. Open the tool, use it, leave — or stay and use another one.

MyToolkit is independently owned and operated. We have no investors, no acquisition ambitions, and no ad-tech partners beyond Google AdSense. The site's business model is simple: serve ads on pages, use that revenue to keep the site running and adding tools. That's it.

Our editorial and accuracy standards

Every tool on MyToolkit is built against a named, documented formula or standard. We do not invent methodology. For health tools, we use established clinical equations. For financial tools, we use standard banking mathematics. For unit conversions, we use SI definitions and published international standards.

Each tool page links or describes its formula source, so you can verify the calculation independently. Where a formula has known limitations (for example, BMI not accounting for muscle mass, or BMR equations having varying accuracy across populations), we note them.

If you find an error in any calculator — a wrong result, an outdated formula, or a boundary condition that isn't handled — please report it via our contact form. We take accuracy reports seriously and typically investigate within 24 hours.

Formulas and sources by category

The table below summarises the primary formulas and standards used across MyToolkit's tool categories. This is provided for transparency so users and researchers can verify our calculations independently.

Category / Tool Formula / Standard Notes
BMR Calculator Mifflin-St Jeor equation (1990) Preferred over Harris-Benedict for general populations. TDEE multiplied by PAL factor.
Body Fat Calculator US Navy circumference method Estimates body fat % from waist, neck, and height. Not a DEXA replacement.
BMI Calculator WHO BMI classification BMI = kg/m². WHO adult thresholds used. Limitations noted on tool page.
Loan / Mortgage Standard amortisation formula M = P·[r(1+r)^n] / [(1+r)^n−1]. Compound interest at monthly frequency.
Compound Interest A = P(1 + r/n)^(nt) User-selectable compounding frequency. Real rate adjusted for inflation where shown.
Unit Converter SI / NIST definitions Base conversion factors from NIST Handbook 44 and ISO 80000.
Car & Vehicle Declining balance depreciation; standard loan amortisation; 20/4/10 affordability rule Standard automotive finance and depreciation formulas.
Hash Generator Web Crypto API (browser-native) SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512 via SubtleCrypto. MD5 via pure-JS fallback. All client-side.
GPA Calculator US 4.0 letter-grade scale Standard A=4.0, B=3.0 etc. Weighted by credit hours.
Standard Deviation Population (σ) and sample (s) formulas Uses n for population, n−1 (Bessel's correction) for sample std dev.

What we commit to

01
No sign-up, ever. All 100 tools work instantly without creating an account, verifying an email, or giving us any personal information. Open, use, done.
02
Client-side first. Any tool that handles potentially sensitive data — hashes, images, files, text — processes that data in your browser. It never touches our servers.
03
Ad-supported, not data-supported. We display contextual Google ads. We do not build behavioural profiles, sell user data, or participate in data broker networks.
04
Documented methodology. Every calculator uses a named formula from an established source. We tell you which formula we use and why, so you can verify our work.
05
Honest about limitations. Where a formula has known caveats — e.g. BMI doesn't distinguish muscle from fat — we say so on the tool page. We don't oversell precision.
06
Accessibility as standard. All tools are keyboard-navigable, use semantic HTML, include ARIA labels, and aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios. We test with screen readers.
07
Responsive to feedback. We read every contact form submission. Bug reports get triaged within 24 hours. Tool suggestions go onto our roadmap. We acknowledge every message.

How MyToolkit is funded

MyToolkit is free to use and always will be. The site is funded entirely by Google AdSense advertising — contextual display ads that appear on tool pages. This is the only revenue source.

We do not participate in:

  • Affiliate marketing or referral schemes
  • Sponsored tool results or paid placements
  • Data brokering, lead generation, or email list sales
  • Subscription tiers, paywalls, or "pro" versions
  • Venture capital or external investment

Ads are served by Google based on page content and your own Google ad preferences — not on personal data collected by us. You can review or opt out of Google's ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.

The "Ad" label you see on the sticky bottom bar is the ad unit. That's the only advertising on the site — no native ads disguised as content, no interstitials.

Privacy commitment

The vast majority of MyToolkit tools run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type into a calculator or converter is ever transmitted to our servers. For tools that process files (Privacy Blur, Image to Base64), all processing happens locally on your device.

The only data we receive is standard web server logs (IP, page requested, referrer, browser) which are retained for 30 days, and Google Analytics data used for aggregate traffic analysis. No individual profiles are built or retained. You can read the full details in our Privacy Policy.

Frequently asked questions

Are all tools really free?
Yes, completely and permanently. All 100 tools are free with no sign-up, no subscription, and no hidden fees. The site is funded solely by Google AdSense advertising.
Do you store data I enter into tools?
No. Tools that process text or numbers do all their work in your browser using JavaScript. We never receive, store, or transmit anything you type. For file-processing tools like Privacy Blur or Image to Base64, your files are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded anywhere.
Are your calculators accurate?
We use established, documented formulas for every tool — the same equations used in textbooks, medical references, and financial standards. All formula sources are documented above. That said, results are for informational purposes only and should not replace professional advice for medical, financial, or legal decisions.
I found an error — how do I report it?
Please use our contact form and select "Bug report" or "Accuracy issue". Include the tool name, what you entered, what the tool returned, and what you believe the correct result should be. We investigate accuracy reports within 24 hours.
Can I suggest a new tool?
Absolutely. Use the contact form and tell us what tool you'd find useful and why. Most of our recent additions were suggested by users. We can't promise a timeline but we do read every suggestion and add the most-requested tools to our roadmap.
Why do some tools show ads?
Google AdSense ads are the sole revenue source that keeps the site free. We display one sticky banner ad at the bottom of the page. Ads are served by Google and labelled clearly. We don't control which specific ads appear, but we don't allow intrusive, deceptive, or full-screen ad formats.
Who built MyToolkit?
MyToolkit was built and is maintained by a small independent team of developers and designers. We're not affiliated with any larger company. The site is self-funded and independent.
